UrbanPromise Academy students will be visiting monthly the younger UrbanPromise School students to help strengthen their academic skills and build relationships. The first visit was split into 30 minute activities with each grade. The Academy students read books, practiced math operations and played games with their younger friends. The experience was beneficial for everyone involved. The older students had a chance to be the “adult” and the younger students enjoyed having contact with the older students, all while engaging in a fresh learning experience.
While some students in the Academy had some reservations about the activity going into it, during the reflection time afterwards it was obvious that they enjoyed the experience and were enriched by it. Everyone is looking forward to going back next month to visit their new friends!
