“Not a project to fix…”

“not a project to fix but people to love” was a statement made by Josh from Oral Roberts University when reflecting on his Spring Break.  Over the last three weeks, UrbanPromise has hosted 72 people who wanted to come spend their week long break serving our community.

They have been vital help with getting over 75 students to perform their speeches at our annual African American Latin American Speech Contest, stupendous at spreading mulch in flower beds at 3 different parks across the city with the Delaware Center for Horticulture, and essential to doing things around the ministry that can only be done with the blessings of so many people.

Some of the groups have come because of a relationship that has been building year after year while others came for the first time. With all the groups, we’re really excited to see what God does here in a week, and praying for them to come back to see us.  Special shout out to the following groups for coming…

Week 1:
William & Mary InterVarsity (7 students)
James Madison University Agape (14 students)

Week 2:
Meeting House Youth Group-9th/10th graders (22 youth, 6 adults)

Week 3:
Johns Hopkins InterVarsity (7 students)
Oral Roberts Mission Department (9 students)
Cornell University Fellowship of Christian Athletes (7 students)

If you and your group is interested in spending a week with us in the summer or spring, check out the PowerUP WorkTeam site or e-mail Deborah
