This spring, our after school and StreetLeader programs were able to take exotic trips to Oklahoma, Kansas, Washington D.C., Arkansa, and a 15 passenger van with high school students drove from DE to Tulsa, OK and back. These trips are huge for our staff to build relationships with the kids, and allows the kids to experience new things in new places.
Each year, students are unsure and nervous about leaving their homes and flying to a new place. Whether it’s the plane or the destination, things hold them back. One student found comfort when she got to Kansas, recognizing the trees in Kansas are the same as in Delaware. It’s the little things sometimes that make us feel at home.
Camp Hope had a student surprised, because he had not used his phone the whole trip. When his camp director, Ms. Emily, was asked why that might be, he said, ‘I think its because this trip is better than my phone!’ What a compliment!
There are way to many wonderful stories to give the staff credit in this little blog. Next time you see someone, you’ll have to ask them where they went and what happened. God did big things!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE TRIPS POSSIBLE!
