The last week of summer camp brought 15 people from Providence Community Church from Hanover, PA and Christ Community Church from Springfield, MO. This group had a special member – former Urban Promise School teacher Kaitlin Short (Nichols)
They had the opportunity to be part of the grand finale with everything from camp awards night, to the StreetLeader Ball, to all camp day. It was a true blessing to finish off the summer with these two churches.
Some comments from the groups:
“God desires the hearts of everyone. He tells us to feed His sheep. This week I was reminded of ways to live out that command.”
“I will never forget when this boy in my class was so frustrated that he couldn’t dray a cross for art, and then in the last 5 minutes of class he drew a beautiful cross. I had talked it over with him, and it just felt awesome to make a kid happy just by drawing a cross.”
Another group member shared that as he was packing he wondered why he was leaving his home and family to spend a week in Wilmington, and now how glad he was to be here and how much the panel discussions with StreetLeaders impacted him.
UrbanPromise thanks this group and each work team this summer for being part of this community in Christ and transformation in Wilmington!!
