For Week 5 of Summer Camp we were joined by 23 people from First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City in Woodbridge,VA and Providence Presbyterian Church from Salisbury, MD. We were blessed with their heart and willingness to serve the kids of Wilmington as well as complete physical work projects, especially in the heat.
Some thoughts from their groups:
“When we worked with the kids we were setting examples for them. We could filter out some of the bad behavior but being Christian examples in their lives.”
“I saw God through the teachers at Camp Freedom. I got to see their love for the Lord during morning devotion, and teaching, and everything they did spoke glory to God. Devotion at Camp Freedom was great because it was genuine, and we sang and praise God together. One staff member was comfortable asking for prayer when she was leaving to speak somewhere else, knowing would be empowered and needed that. They relied on each other and the power of prayer.”
“The staff at Camp Promise wasn’t willing to accept our week long status and made me feel I was part of the group for much longer. They constantly challenged me to think where God is leading me next.”
The leaders even learned not to underestimate their youth, their willingness to blend and jump in with the other group. By the end of the week we didn’t know who was part of which group.
